Visiting Inchmahome Priory in the Lake of Menteith Visiting Inchmahome Priory in the Lake of Menteith, it felt like if I closed my eyes I'd be able to hear the quiet shuffle of canons' footsteps and the gentle hum of life secluded from the rest of the world going about in its slow and steady pace. A secluded world so different from our world of constant connection.

Yet, that is the magic of travel; the ability to bring us to new people, lands and cultures so that we might learn more about both ourselves and others.

Where do you want to wander to next? Stay tuned for my upcoming blog post and #jointheadventure as I share another journey through our beautiful and precious world.

Inchmahome Priory was built in the 1200's by the E Inchmahome Priory was built in the 1200's by the Earl of Menteith, Walter Comyn. A home to Augustinian canons, the priory has also seen an array of royalty—including hosting King Robert the Bruce and acting as a safe haven for Mary Queen of Scots when she was a child.

I find it ceaselessly fascinating how buildings live on long after the people who made a home of them have gone. Even though Inchmahome Priory has not been a place of worship in hundreds of years, the stones themselves seem seeped in holiness and a tranquil aura surrounds the island.

For me, one place I daydream about returning to as travel restrictions begin to lift is Scotland. From the rolling hills
and dreamy lochs to the vibrant cities and ancient ruins, the country's beauty makes my heart ache.

One of the most tranquil places of I have been to in Scotland is Lake Menteith. Not only is the loch home to the peaceful little island of Inchmahome—where one can wander gently through the ruins of a medieval priory—but on the shore opposite Inchmahome is also a stretch of land called Arnmach. True to Scotland's aura of magic and mystery, it's said that Arnmach was built by the faeries.

While all places I visit hold a special space in m While all places I visit hold a special space in my heart, Scotland is particularly dear to me. From the charming towns and stunning cities to the breathtakingly rugged moors and highlands, something about this country seems so magical to me.

And while there is so much to discover in Scotland's many renown destinations, there are many other hidden spots that offer delightful escapes.

One such place is Inchmahome Island in the Lake of Menteith. Located on the island are the ruins of Inchmahome Priory—which are only accessible by boat. With dove grey skies and verdant green hills reflected in the lake's still waters, the little blue boat heading towards me was the only movement to break the moment's serenity.

As a visitor, I could not help but feel a certain As a visitor, I could not help but feel a certain mystery and magical feeling while wandering through the fish market I stumbled across in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Perhaps it was the dim lighting in fluorescent hues of yellow and red or the way the lights glinted off baskets of running water and and an array of sea creatures.

Although visiting a fish market for one's daily shopping is an everyday part of life in Hong Kong, for me it was a shining example of how even the most ordinary experiences can be dressed in their own beauty and intrigue. #capturecultura #jointheadventure
Tiny, tucked-away fish markets like this one in Ab Tiny, tucked-away fish markets like this one in Aberdeen are hidden throughout Hong Kong. Unlike the expansive open-air wholesale market, vendors work out of stalls roughly 6-feet by 10-feet large — if not smaller. #capturecultura #jointheadventure
In the off-the-beaten path fish market I stumbled In the off-the-beaten path fish market I stumbled upon in Aberdeen, Hong Kong, proprietors appear not to call out to passers-by to advertise their wares.

Rather, stall owners wait to catch the eye of a keen shopper. Few words but many gestures are exchanged as fish, snails, crabs and squids are weighed, wrapped in red plastic bags and handed over the counter—after accepting the agreed upon fee. #capturecultura #jointheadventure
While wandering through Aberdeen, Hong Kong, I cam While wandering through Aberdeen, Hong Kong, I came across a large white building framed by a red awning. A stream of people entered and exited through a large open door in the building's front.

With no signs marking the otherwise inconspicuous façade, I follow my traveller's instinct and step into the building and down a flight of stairs.

Upon reaching the bottom, I find myself emerging into a dark, windowless interior. Within, a cramped space lit by fluorescent bulbs hosts a bustling fish market...
